Bad Brains Announce New Album Release for 2011

This just in!  Our favorite bad boy punk rastas of Bad Brains are releasing a new album this summer.  No seriously, all jokes aside. It's really happening. Posted on their social networking sites today was this message: "Working on NEW ALBUM!  We're pleased to announce that we have recently been holed up in upstate NY working on new material for a 2011 release.  "Stand by for the 'realist' we have ever written," says Darryl.  According to their site, the new album is going to be channeling progressive elements and is expected for release in late-summer 2011.  The new album will be the band's ninth studio album and is coming after their 2007 release of "Build a Nation."  We can't wait to see what the gents have in store for us!! The iconic punk band is also making an appearance for the first time in the band's career at SXSW on the Vans Showcase at Emo's Main Room on March 16, 2011.

I seen other interviews where HR spoke in a British accent the whole time. So it could be a classic case of split personality or some form of mental illness; or HR could be fucking with us. Personally I think it's a little of both. I mean he aint really doing harm to anybody, at least not now. I've heard stories of him busting open the heads of people with mics. He's obviously not the right guy to talk about the history of the band for obvious reasons. But I rate HR as number one in performance I've witnessed, and I've seen some really great bands when they were just breaking, including Metallica Master of Puppets tour. Believe me they couldn't hold HR jock strap. I feel sorry for kids that go to see the Bad Brains now and believe this is the same Bad Brains I saw in NY circa 1987. The band is still really fucking tight, but I sometimes think they need to move on with another vocalist. This standing on stage like the Buddha just isn't cutting it.

That Interview is a classic illustration of a somewhat harsh reality; people can be brilliant in one specific area, but may be deficient in other areas. It is very common for people to ascribe all sorts of wisdom to athletes and entertainers because they have a certain set of skills that we enjoy. For some reason we never do that with other professions . You never hear someone say "Sam is a wizard with BMW transmissions, I wonder what his opinion is on my parenting style?"

This is how HR has been acting the last 15 or so years in interviews and it's getting tiring and on stage trying to be the "savant" of the tribe only makes him look like an idiot. If he wants to do reggae and dub let him do that music but I didn't buy Bad Brains albums to see a standing buddha onstage.

This is HR being a dick and if this was Lil Wayne we would be pissed at the rock- star attitude

I've been seeing this guy around my town(city ) for the last 6 years or so?,He plays with one band or another like every other week? The man is a great musician and performer! He does have the right not to be the best "person" to" hang-out" with? I'm glad he will always have Icon status and people should view him as an artist and performer fist and leave his rel life to his "real life"? Jah know; living in Baltimore, is as "real" as it gets!!

@GhettoPunkRocker, I could say so much more; but this is one of those instance I'm going to bite my tongue out of respect for the Bad Brains. But honestly, did you even watch the whole video? Maybe I'm the asshole and this is a shtick by HR. But of course I'm waiting on the album; if it's anything like the last one should be good.

@The Deacon, The difference between genius and insanity is when your shit works.

I guess it's true, there is a fine line between genius and insanity.
