Since WTT, Lil Wayne and A$AP all decided to make statements out of the American Flag the new trend has become exactly that: The AMERICAN FLAG. Punks who were never one to be blinded by trends are now clamoring to the American flag trend. My question is: Are they who they really say they are? 'Punk' used to be considered Anti-fashion, and argued that punk should be defined by their music or their ideology, yet it seems that with the right amount of tattoos, ripped or tattered clothing just about anyone can be considered 'Punk.' Check out this blind dose of "Punk Patriotism."

Comment by TheProzacIsWorking on July 4, 2012 at 11:07pm I don't understand why it matters what they wear. And here I thought being punk meant wearing whatever the fuck you want, whenever you fucking want.

I didn't know they needed anyone else's permission to be what they want. If they want to call themselves punk, let them. Last time I checked, punk was more than just clothes.

Comment by Seph on July 4, 2012 at 11:20am Ok in my profile pic I have an american flag hoodie but not because it was a trend. I just liked it and I am American. That's just being blunt. Are we free yes to a certain extent but there are still things in the U.S taht hold African Americans back. I've never been one to follow trends and when I picked this hoodie up at a vendor it reminded me of my favorite show "Skins" lol but I agree with you.
