black fashion by javii x afropunk fest ’12 – gym class heroes = one hell of a show

August 21, 2012

When googling Gym Class Heroes in reference to fashion or style the only articles you’ll come across are articles linking soccer moms who rocks the gym and looks fashionable while doing so.
Gym Class Heroes has the longevity that most bands dream of. They started in 1997 in Geneva, N.Y., and is made up of frontman Travie McCoy, drummer Matt McGinley, bassist Eric Roberts and guitarist Diashi Lumumba-Kasongo. With an awesome blend of hip-hop and alternative rock, Gym Class Heroes had their first breakout album with “As Cruel as School Children” in 2007, featuring the tracks “Clothes off!” and my favorite “Cupids Chokehold.” Their most recent album, “The Papercut Chronicles II,” has seen great success with songs such as “Stereo Hearts.”
These guys are the proud owners of style and some awesome INK. They’re quirky, charismatic and everything a band should be. This weekend Gym Class Heroes will hit the stage at AFROPUNK Fest 2012. If these guys are anything like their music then we are in for a hell of a show.
