black seattle woman founds nonprofit dignity for divas to help homeless women re-gain their sense of confidence and self-worth

October 6, 2016

After experiencing a bout of homelessness herself, Nikki Gane founded Dignity for Divas to help women who have suffered from a lack of shelter and a loss of hope. Dignity for Divas works to help and remind homeless women that they are beautiful and important. With programs like Diva Duty, in which Diva Survival kits consisting of hygiene products are distributed to women throughout the city, or Welcome Home bags, for women who are transitioning from temporary shelters to permanent housing, Nikki and her team of Divas have a well thought out approach to reaching women where they are. In addition to organizing and collecting supplies, Dignity for Divas holds workshops for emotional healing. With the help of volunteers, business sponsors, and donations, Dignity for Divas is doing amazing work for a population that all too often gets overlooked.
