breaking: “six baltimore police officers face murder, other charges in freddie gray’s death”

News has just come in that six Baltimore police officers will face criminal charges for the death of Freddie Gray. On Monday Gray’s death sparked a number of riots in the Maryland city, followed by large scale protests around the US. The six aforementioned officers will now face charges that include second-degree murder and manslaughter (the Maryland chief medical examiner has ruled Gray’s death a homicide). Prosecutor Marilyn Mosby (pictured) stated that officers failed to provide medical attention to Freddie Gray (who died, suffering a severed spine, while in the back of police van) despite asking on at least two occasions. “We put all our resources to make sure we were pursuing and leading where the facts took us in this case, which was to pursue justice”, says Mosby. This is a first step, let’s just hope that justice is carried out all the way. Or better yet, let’s hope police stop killing unarmed Black people once and for all.
