digital illustrator reimagines avatar: the last airbender with nigerian characters in new fan-fiction

October 27, 2016

All comic book heads know that fan fiction is the best fiction and Marcus Williams is taking Avatar: The Last Airbender fan fiction to the next level. The incredible illustrator and comic book artist, loved the Avatar series so much that he decided to reimagine the characters as Nigerian folks! In Avatar: The Legend of Abioye, Williams created a new chapter in the multiverse that follows the next avatar, hundred years after the iconic, Korra. With names like Iya, Ikenna, and Ballogun, he gives nods to Yoruba religion and the orishas associated with the different elements. Whether you’re a pyromaniac with a penchant for firebending, or a proud fluid member of the Water nation, this fan-fiction is perfect for you.
