Do we care about the Grammys at this point? In case you do, Robert Glasper won Best R&B Album, Frank Ocean won Best Urban Contemparary album, Esperanza Spalding won Jazz Vocal album, Prince presented an award (and looked pretty badass doing it). Alabama Shakes, Carolina Chocolate Drops had nominations too. Voila!

Comment by Suede Jury on February 11, 2013 at 2:55pm I am unsure of what you guys are opposed to here. Sure, Afro Punk originated as one thing and has evolved into another, but I don't see room for dissent when Afro Punk is a visible platform for quality music & musicians - many of color - to be heard. None of the artists mentioned above are anything less than QUALITY. Why NOT support them? Why NOT spread the word about them, whichever level of success they have achieved. Afro Punk has consistently shed light on quality artists from underground to internationally known, and everything in between. Good for them. Good for us.
Peace

Comment by Baron samedi on February 11, 2013 at 11:01am Yeah, great way to not talk about the Grammys..is to talk about the Grammys. The fact that some of the nominees who happen to be seen as "not rap" or "not R&B" were invited to this commercialfest so they can be seen proves how superficail AP is. What is punk about the Grammys?
