AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

Do you have the skills to push the movement Chicago?

I am a guitarist, I work my ass off to play as I do and I’m nowhere near where I want to be. I am a percussive rhythm player that only recently, has started working on leads and solos. I’m proud of where I’m at but I need to go further. I need to find people that have the skills. For some reason this gen of American Blacks have removed themselves from heavy music, most but not all (obviously). But out of those few, even less of us play it and even less of us have any real skill. I think I come from the most random background to play this music. I am from Gary, Indiana and I moved to Chicago for the sole reason of finding people with skills. If you have the talent to write music in the Chicago area and are looking to jam rather to start a band or sharpen your skills, hit me up. I want the Afro-Punks to impact Chicago.

I admire your tenacity for self improvement and for black people to unite in the metal scene. I too am a guitarist that has just recently moved to chicago about 6 months ago. However, since I'm full time in school i haven't been staying up on practicing but I'd be up for a jam session! I've been in several bands throughout the last several years so something might just come of this! So hit me up if your interested.

To clarify, this clip is the intro. The vid is about an hour long and all the examples he shows you are in the tab.

For you and your lead playing...Tabs for Intense Rock. It's the tabs for this vid which will show you a lot of sweeps, 3 note per string scales, alternate picking, string skipping, etc.

In terms of Chicago area peeps, you will catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Good luck.
