donald glover finally makes first appearance in spider-man: homecoming trailer

May 26, 2017

Offering up some advice to Tom Holland’s young Peter Parker, Donald Glover’s currently unknown character drops some wisdom on the kid: “You gotta get better at this part of the job.” The franchise reboot’s third trailer is the best one yet that, in that it doesn’t revisit the same ol’ Spidey crap we’ve seen in the other franchises over the last 15 years.

The appearance of Glover’s character in the trailer, though, raises more questions than it answers, but in a good way. Who is this laid back, underground parking lot-lurking dude totally unfazed by a kid shooting silk out of his wrists? Naturally, Glover’s association with this project and the print version of the Miles Morales Spidey has had fans on high-alert for an appearance from the Ultimate Marvel universe character, but that seems super unlikely. My favorite theory is that Glover will play Aaron Davis/The Prowler who, in the Ultimate universe, is Miles Morales’ uncle, a professional thief who plays the link between Miles and his superpowers. Only time will tell!

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 7.
