ester rada and all that glorious jazz

Badass ethio-soul singer Ester Rada combines an earthy, soulful sound with classic jazz. This month, the beauty (Israeli by way of Ethiopia) released her self titled album. Bold brass instruments collide with Ester’s honey sweet vocals to create some super smooth, easy listening for your enjoyment.
Leading track “Monsters” has an upbeat, swing feel whilst “Sorries” dips its toe into the reggae realm. It’s all very illuminating and never ever downbeat. This album is the perfect remedy to turn any smile upside down. Nothing but good vibes.

The intricate album art is something to behold.
She says: “The artwork was painted by the amazing Emek, born in Israel but lives in California, and we sent him my music, he liked it, and the painting is what he felt from it. When I look at it I feel Emek was trying to bring the idea of Zion that place everyone is dreaming about, where love and good rules and all people living together in peace and harmony. We are very blessed he took this project (between his posters for Black Keys, Adele, Coachella)”

And where does Ester Rada get all of her inspiration from?
“Inspiration comes from everything in my life. My dreams, my memories, every moment, everything. All senses mix with each other and create this wonder called music. This album is a snapshot of my process as an artist and as a human being and everything I wanted to say at this point in time.”
