January 12, 2016

Pop artist and Pratt MWP student Jameela Bailey is working on a new geometric portraits project. Bailey, who was originally inspired by church stainless windows, uses geometric shapes to capture everyday people in a unique and captivating way. Her newest project focuses more directly on racial ethnicity and diversity and serves as a celebration of those differences.

“I recently started a new project where I ask random people on my explore page of all different backgrounds and racial ethnicities to submit a picture of themselves for me to paint. So far I have done 6 of the 28 people that I have asked and have been experimenting with different subject matter and style while making the pieces,” Bailey tells AFROPUNK.
