feature: bernie sanders now endorsing hillary clinton? are we ok with this?

July 13, 2016

As of yesterday afternoon, the news surrounding the presidential campaign has taken a break from Trump’s improv, and has shifted to the surprising shift recently touching the Clinton campaign. Taking the stage together for the first time since the start of the race: Senator Bernie Sanders and Senator Hillary Clinton stood in solidarity. ‘I have come here to make it as clear as possible why I am endorsing Hillary Clinton and why she must become our next president…’- Sanders, the 74 year old democratic socialist, has definitely made it clear that he will do whatever he can to get Clinton into office.

This proves quite a shift in tactic on Sanders’ part; from persistently serving as the antithesis of her claims, Sanders has obviously decided the worst-case scenario would ultimately be having Donald Trump as the president of these entire United States. As he pushes his support forward though, will he succeed in bringing the entire Bernie army with him?

Many of his die-hard supporters label themselves as ‘Bernie or Bust’, meaning that they stand behind Mr. Sanders, or no one at all. As loyal as this is, does it breed substantiality?

One can view it from multiple perspectives:

People’s need to stop Trump is understandable, but on the other hand, given Clinton’s record on imperialism, private prison industry, wars, big money in politics, etc., is what she stands for compatible with what Sanders said he was fighting for?

Many say no, and many are taken aback by this endorsement and are trying to make sense of it.

What are your thoughts?
