Check out the latest photo series from Guadeloupean photographer and filmmaker Damien Jélaine, entitled ‘Between concrete and flesh: Us.’ – a series that centers on three dancers (Joy Mass, Ablaye Dadinio Jhones, and Brandon Miel Masele). Jélaine tells us: This is my very last work before I left Paris in september. The series is called ‘Between concrete and flesh: Us.’. Three Black Dancers living Paris; three Black living in Paris; three Black Parisians; three Parisians. In and out, their bodies and shades belong to this city, concrete and flesh, I realize it now. People have to understand that Terror is a beast with many faces and that each face must be treated with the same rage, everywhere. So when we yell “Fuck ISIS !” when ISIS kills, we got to make sure we’re yelling “Fuck White Supremacists !” when they kill innocent black brothers in the street, that we’re yelling “Fuck Boko Haram !” when they slaughter innocent students in Kenya and, of course, to pray for them all. We got to make sure we’re sharing each and every flag or no flag at all. ‘Cause that’s the true key of the ‘unity’, and the only way we can defeat this enemy.” See his powerful work below.
