feature: canadian creatives keesha chung, amarindi norbert, and ishmil waterman collaborate on “girls with curls” editorial
“Girls With Curls” is an editorial collaboration by Keesha Chung, Amarindi Norbert, and Ishmil Waterman that about black beauty and, particularly, our relationship with their hair. The series, which originally appeared in Sophomore Magazine, features an array of black models and hair textures against quintessentially 90s patterns and pastels. “This is for all of you out there who are struggling to love your hair and see yourself as beautiful—for the girls and women struggling to embrace their inner power and strength. I hope these stories will help you in exceeding your potential for self growth, and in some way, embark on the journey of self-empowerment by coming out from under the rock the world has placed on our self-worth,” Chung writes.
