feature: “cincinnati campus cop kills unarmed black man”

July 23, 2015

This past Sunday, Sam Dubose became the next death in a growing “toll of unarmed black men dying in police encounters”. As reported by The Daily Beast, the newly engaged father was fatally shot by a University of Cincinnati police officer during a routine traffic stop for missing a front license plate. After being pulled over by UC officer Ray Tensing (who, by the way, has been placed on administrative leave with pay), a struggle ensued through the car window; and when Dubose started driving away, he was shot in the head by the university cop (WTF? Even if he drove away, why use lethal force?). According to a press release issued yesterday, an investigation into the shooting is now complete and Investigators will present the evidence to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters who will decide if criminal charges are necessary. Samuel Dubose’s 9-year-old son Samuel Jr. (pictured below) told reporters: “He was coming home that night and we had a projector so we were going to watch a movie on it but we didn’t get to do that … because he died.” RIP
