feature: dad and daughter recreate images of iconic black women – ‘the black heroines project’

Take a look at ‘The Black Heroines Project’, lensed by Brooklyn-based photographer Marc Bushelle. In this photo series, Bushelle photographs his 5-year-old daughter Lily as she embodies iconic black women – from the likes of Toni Morrison to upcoming AFROPUNK Fest performer Grace Jones. He states that he wanted to “teach Lily about history and these heroines in a fun and creative way” and that he “wanted her to be able to see herself as a future heroine”.
