FEATURE: 'Dear White People' Movie Gets Official Theater Release Date

We know you guys are excited about the hilarious Dear White People movie by director Justin Simien. The team finally announced a U.S. theater release date via their social networks: October 17th! The indie crowd-funded movie, which tackles race relations and systemic racism in a humorous way, had been picked up by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions after winning prizes at this year's Sundance Film Festival.

funny, when watching the preview i felt....uh-so, hollywood shuffle. that was/is one of my ALL time FAVs. when i saw this footage/clip in 2012 i was like seriously somebody gonna make this movie. PLEASE DO. because its true, like how often do you see a movie, minus uh comedies, like like uh Inception. i loved the concept of that movie but i shit you not the entire time i watched it throughout i thought to myself, what if this was a predominantly all black cast.

yes, why do we always have to be subjected to the tyler perry flicks, or or "b"rated comedies that could be so much better if they didnt often revolve around stereotypical drama??

i'm hoping this film opens up a door to a variety of genres that reflect the kind of blackness that is in fact capable of sci-fi flicks, crime stories not about drugs-but similar to the series Lincoln Heights. i babble, i just want more of me on film and television in general.

i am willing to find/create movie screenings to get this film out that.

America should not be made to wait for this honest reviving feature.  In true African-American spirit, a wake-up call! Hummm, it ain't over, ya'll we are still looking.

I am all kinds of excited about this movie! I think when Higher Learning and School Daze came out, I was too young. It was too much for me at the time. I'm ready for this movie! And any simple a$$ remarks or comments that may come our way!
