feature: ethical and sustainable fashion – the ss16 collection from london-based womenswear label yemzi

September 15, 2015

Check out the Spring Summer 2016 collection from London womenswear brand Yemzi. The indie label, founded and creatively directed by fashion designer Elizabeth Yemi Akingbade, is recognised for its distinctive prints and stance on ethical and environmental sustainability. In regards to the latter, Yemzi state: “We exclusively use natural fibres across all our range, with the majority being organic – that’s no pesticides or fertilizers. We don’t want to contaminate our planet or our dope customers. We love 100% cotton and 100% silk fibres”. They add, “All our clothing is hand sewn in East London with great attention to detail. As fast fashion continues so does the demand for cheap labor, we are not involved. Every person working in our production is paid fairly and there is no child labour. We embrace girl power by working with groups of skilled female seamstresses from social enterprises and marginalised backgrounds.” Love it! Explore the new collection below.
