Odera Igbokwe is a fantasy illustrator and painter and graduate of R.I.S.D. who created this gorgeous race-bent Sailor Moon series. Starting today Odera is launching a long-term Patreon campaign for his “Melanin Mythologies” project. The project will include producing two character illustrations and/or original paintings each month that involves either redesigning heroes from comics, anime, videogaming, etc. or “contextualizing black people from contemporary culture and history in a fantasy realm,” available for each tier of monthly patronage. “Now I am constantly creating more inclusive illustrations, that celebrate people of the african diaspora, and show that we can exist in fantastical realms,” he writes on Patreon.
