Check out the art of Jaleel Campbell – a New York artist (born and raised in Syracuse) whose work is centered on black empowerment. He tells us, “My work promotes black pride and pays homage to many techniques our ancestors have used previously”. His team state: “With his body of work titled “Melanin”, Jaleel challenges the Eurocentric standards of beauty by depicting African Americans in a way where no matter how brown or dark their skin may be, their voice and presence are still valued and appreciated in today’s day and age”.
