feature: rest in peace to ikey owens

October 15, 2014

Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, the keyboardist of Jack White’s touring band has died in Mexico of a reported heart attack. The musician was touring with White at the time of his death, and was found in his hotel room. Out of respect for the musician, Jack White has cancelled the remaining Mexico dates of the Jack White Tour, and left the following message on his bandmate’s Facebook page: “We will all miss you, Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist.” Owens, a California native had been touring with White since 2012 and appeared on both his solo LPs – before that he was a member of rock band The Mars Volta. Owens was also a producer – his most recent work being AFROPUNK Fest alums BLXPLTN’s new album. The loss of an amazing talent. Rest in Peace, Ikey.
