feature: “sisterhood of south sudanese models determined to make a difference”

February 16, 2015

“We want the fashion industry to understand as a South Sudan woman, I am not just another model who is pretty, I have a story, I have an identity, and this is what is happening.” These are the words of South Sudanese DJ and fashion model Mari Malek, founder of non-profit organization Stand For Education – an organization focused on providing access to education as well as emergency relief in South Sudan. The humanitarian recently teamed up with other South Sudanese models – such as Grace Bol and Nykhor Paul – for a group shoot in aid of her organization and this “Sisterhood of South Sudanese models determined to make a difference”. Check out the video and photos below; plus read more on the shoot here via Fusion.
