festival feature: unlocking the truth

THESE KIDS ARE 12! Sure, there are plenty of talented 12 year olds. Piano savants, Jeopardy champions, figure skaters, mature voiced singers ETC ETC, but what makes Unlocking the Truth truly phenomenal is their incredible sense of SELF and determination. The Brooklyn pre-teens Malcolm Brickhouse, Alec Atkins, and Jared Dawkins are defining themselves, rocking hard and coming for you at AFROPUNK FEST ’13.

They hit the internet by storm with a viral video of the threesome playing in Times Square, and since then the boys have busy making television appearances, meeting Vernon Reid of Living Colour, being profiled on VICE Mag and practicing for their performance at AFROPUNK FEST ’13! They made our jaws drop when they brought the house DOWN in our Battle of the Bands competition and even though they may not have “officially” “won” we had to have them. They only ROCK. Just metal. They write songs but don’t sing them in performances as they are waiting for their voices to change (!). So until then, we’re left with the evidence of dedication and practice; one could even say Unlocking the Truth is the literal SOUND of aspiration. Wit it. Come let out these future ROCK STARS melt your faces off and become a believer in the TRUTH!
