for this gop congressman, white terrorists are not as problematic as the rest

February 8, 2017

The crazy cast of characters who are currently running our government have really outdone themselves. In the span of three weeks, they’ve made such a fool of themselves and our country, but what’s more asinine is the way they’ve flippantly let whatever bigoted thoughts come to mind escape their lips. Reality star turned republican congressman Sean Duffy from Wisconsin encourages the American people to consider the silver linings in all things, including the Charleston shooting in which a white supremacist shot 9 Black churchgoers or a more recent attack with a white supremacist leaving 6 Muslims dead in their place of worship. He also explicitly states that “There is a difference” between those shootings and the “terrorism” from refugees and Muslim extremists (which on American soil, there have been none in the past decade). He even went on to say “Look at the good that’s come from it” cited Nikki Haley’s decision to take down the Confederate Flag (that’s the only reason she could think of to take down a symbol of pro-slavery sentiments?!). Hmm. I wonder if the difference is that the people he seeks to vilify are brown and the actual terrorists walking among us closely resemble the man he sees in the mirror. Guess we’ll have to wait until he gets the opportunity, courage, or red light from the Cheeto in Chief to be a white nationalist terrorist in public for us to find out.
