Black on Black’s latest EP boasts a ferocity and urgency that’s tragically rare in this era of meticulously recorded but often interchangeable punk rock. Everything is turned up to the point of distortion. But rather than sounding muddy, it evokes the immediacy of watching the band in the basement of a dingy punk house singing through a PA that’s seen better days. (This is a good thing.) That drive and realness makes Get On With It grab your ears and refuse to let go.

With a rhythm section that’s clearly studied at the University of Jawbreaker, singer/guitarist Wade tears through 5 minimal high energy tracks. There’s something to be said for a punk rock album when the longest and slowest track, “Breaking Apart” clocks in at just barely 3 minutes. Album opener “Fork In the Road” burns fast and bright, accomplishing that rare feat of capturing the energy of a live performance on record.
