future-soul singer wallace wows with powerhouse jazz vocals on the crooked letter-produced “diaspora”

April 10, 2017

Hell-o Wallace! The New Zealand-born Future-Soul singer first single of 2017 is a melodic, frenetic jazz-infused, Nigerian-funk release. Inspired by the diasporic experience, where the song takes it’s name, “Diaspora” lyrically and viscerally explores the roots and heritage of Wallace’s parent’s homeland. “I wanted to highlight the connection that we both feel towards places where we didn’t grow up”, says Wallace on the track. “We bonded over the idea that looking back at our roots gave us a sense of affirmation and appreciation for what makes us who we are”.
