With the crazy influx of social networks, social media, and photo apps out the ass, it's no surprise that so much of society is hung up on validation.
Validation has its place. Its something that kids need while growing up, but after a certain point one has to wonder why we still search for validation. Why does validation fill us up, make us feel good, and make us feel like we're a part of something? As I look through my social network friends, much like I do too many times throughout the day, I get a sort of epiphany: They only post what they post in the hopes that someone -anyone- agrees with them. And if they don't get any likes or re-tweets in the first hour, the post/image gets deleted.
How fucking sad is that?!
For so many, the question, "Where the hell is society going" has no real answer, but I can guarantee you that it isn't headed in the right direction because of one word: Validation. I've too often witnessed someone not wearing something because their friend said that they didn't like it. Or a time when a girl really, really, really wanted to cut her hair but her boyfriend didn't think she should. Or how about that time when you were offered a job in another country but turned it down because your mom didn't think moving to another country was smart...
