What do you have to do as a white man to be prevented from living life to the fullest? Nothing. It seems that sexual harassment, racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, or any other unspeakable isn’t enough to tarnish white patriarchy or supremacy. Want proof? Look no further than the 45th President of the United States, or in more recent news, Casey Affleck, the recipient of a boatload of awards for his role in ‘Manchester By The Sea’ and the man accused of sexual harassment by several women in the crew. Is it possible that we’re being too hard on them? No. Black men and women, Latinx men and women, LGBTQ men and women, and everyone in between are rarely given the opportunity to even provide for their families or granted their literal freedom for even a tenth of what these men are accused of. It’s frustrating to think that there are people of color and socioeconomically disadvantaged folks in prison right now for victimless crimes, when the victims of men like Trump and Affleck never get real justice, and their paths are never diverted. It’s white privilege personified, and it’s gotta stop.
