Kimya Dawson and Aesop Rock join forces in The Uncluded. Check out the debut single. #SoundCheck

In hindsight, it makes perfect sense that anti-folk luminary Kimya Dawson and Aesop Rock would start a band. The two have collaborated often in recent years, with Aesop adding vocals to Kimya's most recent solo record Thunder Thighs, and Kimya returning the favor. So it was really only a matter of time before the unlikely duo made it official. The new band is called The Uncluded, and their debut record will be out in May.

Lead single “Earthquake” makes a solid use of both artists talents, Kimya's mock-innocent vocals counterpointing Aesop Rock's dense flow. It's a testament to the duo's chemistry that the genre mash-up works so well. If it were anyone else, I'd probably question whether they could sustain a full album of this. But given their previous collaborations, it can only be more of a good thing.

I love Kimya's voice and have only heard a little bit of AESOP's music - so now I have great chance to explore them more. Love this site- always putting me on to new things!

The best part about this song is that when I saw some commentors on Rhymesayers go from calling it "gay" to commenting negatively on Kimya's vocals anytime a video that includes both of their recordings appear, it was clear that if this album did will do anything well, it's to piss off those with conservative hip-hop tastes and help it expand to levels that it has never know yet. I personally don't mind any old school hip-hop tastes if you do it right, but it always seems like some fans are hella afraid to go outside of the lines every once in a while, which considering that music is a form of art, is ridiculous. Hell, I went to the channel and saw P.O.S.' "Weird Friends", and one of the comments on there said "Rhymesayers fell off".

The revolution starts there!
