laura mvula filming documentary on anxiety and depression with bbc

March 30, 2017

British singer/songwriter, two-time Mercury Prize nominee and two-time MOBO award winner Laura Mvula has a lot on her plate nowadays. In addition to joining us for AFROPUNK Paris 2017, the Birmingham-born star just wrapped filming on a documentary with BBC’s Woman’s Hour about struggling with anxiety and depression.

The innovative Sing to the Moon singer has been upfront about her mental illness for some time now, telling The Guardian last year that panic attacks destroyed her marriage and almost wrecked her career.

Woman’s Hour is a radio magazine broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in the UK covering women’s issues while working to secure political change on their behalf.

It’s not clear when the documentary will air.
