LIVING COLOUR performed at VIA FUNCHAL in Sao Paulo, Brazil on October 15th and Black Soul Rhythms Radio was there to see this phenomenal band at work. The show was an unbelieveable 2+ hours of non-stop energy (no opening act needed). "Sampa" with a population over 11 million people & a 455 year old soul that is bursting with nightlife was in for a treat when Living Colour took the stage.
On the heels of their most recent CD release "The Chair in the Doorway" Vernon Reid began the concert by asking the question "What's Your Favorite Color?" The audience answered emphatically "LIVING COLOUR"!! You could feel the roar of the audience. If you could not see the stage you would never believe the band is only 4 musicians: Vernon Reid (guitar & vocals), Will Calhoun (Percussion, drums, vocals), Corey Glover (lead vocals), and Doug Wimbish (bass & vocals). To the delight of the crowd the band played many of the tunes from their new CD: Burned Bridges, Behind the Sun, Bless Those, Method and others. Living Colour showed their wide range of taste by performing remakes of Should I Stay or Should I Go by The Clash and Papa Was A Rolling Stone by the Temptations. Along with an off the wall solo by drummer & percussionist Will Calhoun and phenomenal vocals by Corey Glover the band also played tunes from past CDs: Bi, Glamour Boys, Elvis is Dead, Open Letter to a Landlord and everyone's favorite Cult of Personality.
The crowd was not disappointed. Sampa says "Obrigado!"
