It turns out Gloucestershire (UK) had more in store for us. We told you about The Divine Secret's bad-ass rock, now how about some fresh and summery acoustic tunes? Rufio Summers has just what you need, and happens to be a good friend of The Divine Secret front man Joe Green's.
"I was in rock bands form the age of 13 but they weren't very good and the people always lacked commitment one way or another", he explains. "At 18 years old I went to a bar close to where I lived and The Divine Secret were playing; I was so amazed with Joe Green's vocals and the music that they made that it inspired me to get my own band together. Funny enough, the Divine boys and my band ending up touring around the UK together a year later".
About his first EP 'Over It' (which you can download for FREE here), Rufio told us: "My band split up on the brink of getting signed to an indie label. I was so pissed off with bands at that point I bought a laptop and got a friend to show me how to use Logic, and started creating electro tracks that I would sing over. After a while I found the dance beats too restrictive. (...) Then Joe came over one day and started playing the same melody on the guitar that was in the tracks. (...) That was how it all started. What I stand for and why I make music is purely based on the fact that it keeps me sane and on the right track. If you listen to what I'm saying in my songs, I'm documenting everything that has happened to me from my first love to falling out with my friends."
Rufio is moving forward: "In the time that [Joe Green and I] had played together, he taught me how to play guitar, I moved to London soon after and I am now looking to record my second EP." And now of course, you're wondering about his killer tatts, right? Well: "They all have a meaning but the only way people can find out is by listening to my music." Sounds like a plan. - Lou Constant-Desportes
