new documentary short explores the complexities of the black gay experience

February 24, 2017

c r e a t i n g s p a c e is the new documentary project by htx people project creator B. Lauren and creative partner Morganne Nikole. This visual project explores the intersections of black identities through the voice of six black lgbt-identified folks who engage in raw, uncensored dialogue on matters like “religion, race, sexuality, restricted gender binary, societal rejection and cultural oppression.” “As a culture, we unsuccessfully acknowledge sub groups of minorities that “fail” to fit within the structure of cultural norm,” says Lauren. “To be black and to be gay is an additional hardship added to the already complicated black experience.”
