August 17, 2016

Gearing up for the release of his retrospective album ’10 Years o Akala'(out Sept. 23rd) This London-based rapper is reconnecting to his roots with the prefaced release of latest single ‘Giants’.

“Not just a party banger, ‘Giants’ delivers a deeper social message about pioneers and foundation-layers who have paved the way politically, culturally and musically in a positive way for the world that we inhabit today.”

Dropping this past Friday, Akala’s fresh track is a tight fusion of Reggae, hip hop, and every carnival hit you know and love. This unique blend of culture and musical influence sets the stage for a harmonious production. It is so important- especially in these times- for artists to hold on to their respective cultures, and thrive from the influences that they provide. By preaching the morals and spirit of his African diaspora, Akala projects an air of pride and progression, allowing listeners to feel the same. Collaborating with musiciansKabaka Pyramid and Marshall, the entire track is oozing with influence and pride.

Look out for Akala’s performance at this years AFROPUNK London in September, and check out his latest track ‘Giants’ below.
