New music: Ethno punk warlocks from Malawi Tonga Boys put out energetic debut album

Ethno occult DIY punk rockers from Mzuzu, Malawi, Tonga Boys recently published their debut album entitled Tiri Bwino. The group, consisting of Albert, Guta, Solomon, Myrias and „MadMax” Peter, and recorded by Polish ethnomusicologist Piotr Cichocki, utilizes everyday items and virtually any available space to thrash out their trademark hypnotic garage punk. Their lyrics include reinterpretations of traditional, black magic themes, but also an array of Malawian societal problems such as poverty, lack of medical care, and an overwhelming sense of hopelessness.

The publisher of the album, 1000Hz Society (https://www.facebook.com/Stowarzyszenie1000Hz/), proceeds all profits from the album sells to the artists, so make sure to buy a digital copy on their bandcamp page (unfortunately all the CD-Rs already sell out): https://tongaboys.bandcamp.com/releases
