new music: fka twigs reflects on her ‘video girl’ past

FKA Twigs used to be a video girl. She recently told Pitchfork: “I’m in so many videos. There was a period of about two years where I danced for everyone: Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Taio Cruz. (…) When I got signed, I stopped dancing—I’d given up that part of my life. I would go out, and somebody would be like, “Oh, I recognize you!” I’d hope it was because they’d heard my music, but they’d say, “Are you that girl from the Jessie J video?” I’d always say “no”.
In that video, which has over 335 million views on Youtube, FKA Twigs is dressed up as a marionette. “The camera’s on your pain, but it loves you”, “All eyes on you now, What you gonna do?” she sings in ‘Video Girl’, the latest track to surface from her upcoming debut album LP1.
