new music: public enemy are set to share rare recordings as part of two album re-releases.

Iconic hip-hop group Public Enemy will release deluxe editions of their 1988 album ‘It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back’ and their 1990 offering, ‘Fear of a Black Planet’. Formed in Long Island, New York in 1982, Chuck D,Flavor Flav, DJ Lord, The S1W group, Khari Wynn and Professor Griff became a collective voice for the African American community, never one to shy away from their criticism of the American establishment. It was this politically charged nature that inspired Spike Lee to use their anthemic hit ‘Fight The Power’ for the soundtrack of his 1989 film, ‘Do The Right Thing’. The re-releases, which are part of rap Label Def Jam’s 30th celebrations, will contain all original tracks as well as rare bonus tracks and commentary from The Roots’ Questlove and Wax Poetics’ editor-in-chief, Andre Torres.
