MC/Producer Ishmael Butler has returned under pseudonym Shabazz Palaces with third album ‘Lese Majesty’ and like his two previous offerings, Butler is still focused on musical exploration as opposed to commercial success previously encountered.

The leader of Digable Planets has always been known for exploring the alternatives of Hip Hop; but with this Shabazz Palaces project, founded in 2008, Butler has taken this exploration to new heights. Playing with synethesiers in ways we rarely see in mainstream hiphop. Furthermore, his words are not just mere utterances but poetry. Poetry which travels perfectly in a unique and fluid form of hip hop. Only word to describe it as is trippy.

Shabazz Palaces is set to perform at this years Afropunk festival next month.
