The great Gary Clark Jr. just popped up with 2 new cuts from his forthcoming record for us to love. Both “The Healing” and “Grinder” feature a rawer sound than his previous Blak and Blu. His guitar work is cutting and ferocious, particularly on the infectious “Grinder” where he twists a single suspended note into a pained requiem for the American dream. “People dying for this money / Might not be around too long / So I’m gone.”
