Check out this new track by Yasiin Bey (formally known as Mos Def). ‘Dec 99th – N.A.W’ aka Needs and Wants is a stream of consciousness-style rap-ish track, repeatedly in search of the essential. ‘Dec 99th – N.A.W.’ was recorded in Cape Town where Bey was recently released from jail after being apprehended for producing a f(fake) “World” passport while attempting to leave the country. Due to the legal trouble, Bey has been unable to travel and tour internationally. He issued a recorded apology to fans yesterday before releasing the song. ‘Dec 99th – N.A.W’ seems to be Bey grappling with his legal troubles and an introspective search for his, well, needs and wants.
