I am excited to share details about a POC Zine Project event going down today in NYC from 7-9pm. It's free, there will be some tasty food and we're livestreaming and livetweeting. I hope you can make it.
We're also collecting books for the Occupy movement's The People's Library that was destroyed by the NYPD, so bring some if you can!

We want to make it easier for POC (People of Color) zine fans and their supporters to find a diverse selection of zines made by POC. Zines are a vital component in the long tradition of self-publication. They share knowledge and experiences that supplement (and often contradict) the information that other sources distribute, encouraging free thought. There are many valuable zine collections in the United States (many accessible online) but none that are devoted to curating POC zines. POC Zine Project’s mission is to makes ALL zines by POC easy to find, share, and distribute.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Zine lovers: This event was always free, but if you'd like to support the Occupy movement while enjoying zine love, PLEASE BRING SOME BOOKS AND/OR ZINES TO DONATE. The Barnard Library Zine Collection, POC Zine Project and For the Birds Collective + Distro will gather what you bring and coordinate getting it to the new The People's Library that was destroyed early this morning by the NYPD. Much love and gratitude! Please share widely. ♥
