ojos nebulosos photography celebrates afro-latinx identity in stunning series of portraits

October 10, 2016

Self love has always been a large part of the resistance movement. Finding beauty in oneself is difficult when the mainstream’s standards of beauty don’t include you, but Blackness is certainly beautiful, if not magical, and in Latin America that sentiment is growing. Arianna Cuesta, the photographer behind Ojos Nebulosos, is a Puerto Rican-Dominican woman helping the Afro-Caribbean show pride in their uniqueness. Photography for Arianna is a way to support a body positive platform for all ages and gender and to connect with people in different parts of the world. Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic are notorious for their discrimination of people with darker skin and Arianna wants her subjects to shed the shame of this prejudice to show their unique beauty.
