rad creative of the day: martiniquais director khris burton continues to captivate audiences with his expressive, boundary-breaking projects

August 16, 2016

More and more, filmmakers of color are solidifying their place in the media, and providing a strong platform for their point of views to be published. For director Khris Burton, the space for creation is not only filled, but exceeded. Born and raised in Martinique, the award-winning film maker has made it his mission to capture not only the stories of people of color, but the variety that accompanies their lives and culture.

Branching away from the stereotypical topics of “Black Cinema”, Burton’s work tackles the international representation of Black lives and Black stories; as he uses his international background to reach audiences far and wide, a ever-present layer of depth is unveiled and provided to the public.

Not confined by genre- Burtons work travels in all forms: from music videos, to commercials, to short films- and anywhere in between. With his motto being #OnlyDarersDare, that’s exactly what he does; and as his pieces push the boundaries of expectation- he continues to entertain his audiences while broadening their perspective. Check out some of his masterful work below.
