see.culture.made.radical: the visual history makers – jules arthur

February 21, 2014

Pivotal moments in history have been mirrored beautifully for all to witness by the gifted New York-based painter Jules Arthur. His preciseness, natural talent, and inspiration excavates pieces of the past onto an empty canvas that he owns power of, as the Creator.
Not only does Jules Arthur’s artistry reign supreme in his portraits of monumental people in History, but he has also become a teacher of art in a sense (at least to me). As we admire with Jules the glory days of Muhammad Ali, and the spirit of African tribal cultures, his artwork lives as a platform for scavengers of truth, history and beauty. Honest expression causing willful observants and admirers to research greats whom Jules has created masterpieces of, such as Jimi Hendrix and Jack Johnson.

“The common thread within the diverse themes of his canvases is the portrayal of the human condition as experienced by individual personalities, framed by his art at the instant of poignancy. His works reveal personal moments of pride and introspection, of struggle and triumph.”julesarthur.com
