The handsome and magically charming Sterling Infinity lead singer of a girl group by the same name, may describe himself as a “mama’s boy,” but he hasn’t always acted in ways a mother would appreciate.
After spending the better part of the day peeling off clothes in a room full of people we finally hear Sterling scream “Thats what happend, thats the shot.” You see Sterling isn’t just looking for a pretty picture, hes reliving his life and truth.
Sterling Infinity doesn’t fancy himself a rebel, at least when it comes to his musical love. For his first interview he opens up to Uk fashion blogger Ashley Jow over drinks in Soho. When asked the difference between the man he is today verses who he was when he was singing gospel he admits to being:
S∞: rebellious, and spiritually free this time around through my music, through my fashion, tattoos, and my hair I am me. I have been conservative in many forms… but in the music it’s pretty much nonexistent. Its the healthiest relationship I’ve had thus far, it took a while to get to this place of trust; knowing that no matter what I say, do the music is open to hear and love me…
AJ: You once said you were married to your band. Do you still feel that way?
S∞: Yeah, I do.
AJ: Will that keep you from actually getting married?
S∞: There are many things that keep me from getting married. But there will be a time when marriage makes sense to me.
AJ: Wow you sound like a complex and grounded individual, why the use of mannequins in you promoshots?
S∞: Thank you. Why Mannequin? To me it represents the human form. I see everything as a story and when you look at the pictures and listen to the music you see my truth. Its all in the mindset of loving whats not real I guess..
You said your music has helped you open up and be more free with your heart, how so?
S∞: In the past If I came across someone who I found intriguing I’d play (laughs), but the minute I felt something more I would block everything out.
AJ: Have you always been comfortable in your own skin?
S∞: No. Not to say that I’m totally comfortable with it now. I mean, I’m comfortable enough.
AJ: Dude, come on. You’re naked all the time. Like today you shot on a bed naked in front of a room full of people.
Something flashes across his face, a look I can only describe as a hint of shyness mixed with sexual charge, after a second he replies:
S∞: It’s not me wanting to show off. I see the world from the inside out so when I am myself the only other person I see is Infinity she is my music. The content of a lot of my art is sexual—naturally the visual would be representative of that. Shouldn’t life be -imitating-art?
