Tattoo Of The Week: Pin-Up Honey Voodoo

Honey Voodoo is a pin-up cutie fron Yuba City, CA. Her personal style is inspired by the 1920s - 1960s but likes to infuse a modern and sometimes creepy twist to it. You can definitely get the sense of how she embodies her unique style by checking out her modeling photos. Honey Voodoo is like the new age Betty Paige with plenty of ink! Her favorite tattoo is her chest piece; a grey & black styled tribute to her heritage and values. It's original work tatted on a one of a kind woman! To submit your tattoos for Tattoo Of The Week, send pictures + answers to the questionnaire below to mika@afropunk.com.

Facebook.com/MikaKenyah- Name: Honey Voodoo
- Age: 28
- City: Yuba City, CA
- Occupation: Mother, Model, and Photographer
-How many tattoos do you have? I kind of stopped counting after 24!
-Which one is your favorite? Why? I would have to say my chest tattoo is my favorite. It's a Irish Claddagh with two sparrows and a banner that's says Respect, Loyalty, Love, and Friendship. I love this tattoo for three reasons; the words represent what I am about, the sparrows is a best friend tattoo and I'm part Irish.
-Why should we feature your tattoo? I think you should feature my tattoo because it's clean original work.
- How old were you when you first got your tattoo? The day I turned 18 and I never looked back! :-)
-Do you have a particular tattoo artist you go to? If yes, where is he/she located? Website? Most of my work is from Sean Jackson Owner of Legacy Ink in Sacramento, CA and Chino Evol, Owner of Lucky's Tattoo in Thousand Palms, CA.
-Do you regret any tattoos you have? Yes and no! I don't regret the tattoo but I do regret the artist I let do it. I will just put it this way...I came from a small town with two shops in the whole town and I managed to pick the one that didn't realize just because I am Black didn't mean he needed to push the color IN my skin so deep. Even IF I decided to cover it you can still see and feel what it is.

Honey Voodoo has got it going on! I'm so inspired by her work. I'm  in search of a tattoo artist in Belgium that would even be willing to do color on me. I'm glad I read this, now I know to steer away from anyone that would go so deep in my skin with the color. Thanks for featuring her tattoos.
