The Bible

The Christian Bible is the greatest repository of horror fiction and supernatural lore in the western world. The book is essentially about two superpowerful cosmic entities battling for dominion of the universe, while the fate of mankind hangs in the balance. Within this framework, there is war, murder, torture, incest, sexual perversion, demonic possesion, all manner of paranormal phenomenon, and finally THE END OF THE WORLD (not to mention "eternal damnation"-- undoubtedly the most brutal and twisted notion ever conceived of by the human mind). Stephen King can't touch this stuff.
