The Timeless Question Tattoos V. Religious Beliefs

This is a plug f.y.i. if I haven't mentioned it before I have a blog on Tumblr called Femme Noire Avec Septums... Check it out!!! Then come back and read this blog then go back to Tumblr and click FOLLOW :)

Now back to our scheduled programming...

So for the past week or so it's been Scarification week on my blog. I'd thought by posting this entry, I would get some feedback on how do people who constantly get criticize about their mods like tattoos, or scarification if they've actually looked up the passage in the bible where it's talked about...

Here's the entry below..

So it’s Scarification week on FemmeNoire and I just thought I’d share some of my feelings slash insight on the modified world… [note these are just my opinions I’m not a mod/ biblical expert] So I know many people with Tattoos such as myself always get ridiculed by over zealous religious people… whether it be friends, families, or just random ass people that think you care about their opinion. Well I’m sure you've heard “Ohhh why would you do that to yourself”… “in the bible it says…” “what your doing is wrong Leviticus…” anyways so you hear the same bullshit but did you know that what Leviticus is really referencing Scarification which many African cultures such as Egyptians used to worship the dead. From certain interpretations one should not worship anyone other than God. It was put in the bible to separate the Pagans from the Christians. In the same passage in Leviticus it also says don’t eat from an animal that bleeds, don’t shave your beard, etc… but the only thing someone will judge another for is a tattoo or a piercing that’s not in the earlobe…

Scarification is a beautiful artifact of an existing culture that celebrates its tradition… it’s not for everyone but hey to each is his own

I’m a Christian and have no issues with anybody and how they chose to live their life. I wish someone would cast the first stone as if their sin free… don’t judge others because they sin differently than you

@Compund Egret yes! but people still never get it though... judgment is such a huge inequality that the world shares... balance and respect is so needed
