AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

Today A Piece of Afro-punk has died!!

Today Afro-punk and the world has lost one of its truest pioneers in music "Michael Jackson"! Michael was a legend in every sense of the word. If it wasn't for artist such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Bad Brains and In Living Color a lot of us wouldn't be in the music! It was their obscurity that lead to the birth of new musical talents we see today! So many people may think Michael was not a part of Afro-punk! Well you are wrong! Afro-punk is a movement filled with people who think outside the box! Afro-punk is about the underdog and how he fights his way to the top! Afro-punk is the kid who looks in the mirror and put eye liner on while singing his favorite prince record hiding from his parents! Afro-punk is the man who showed us black people could walk on the moon from earth! Afro-punk is a mother cashing in bottles to buy her daughters first guitar! Afro-punk is the spirit that watches over us all and pushes us forward when the world turns its back! Afro-punk is my community! Afro-punk is your community!

On this sad day, I think we should all take the time to treasure the life of Michael Jackson! Let's remember him for the great legacy he has left behind and let's honor him by following in his footsteps and leaving our mark on this world! Michael sacrificed his body and soul for us! There was never a time where someone could say... "That Michael Jackson concert was all right!" Hell no! A MJ concert was always worth every penny! He performed like he would never see the stage again! I can only hope to live up to quarter of his greatness!

To all Afro-punk artist performing at this years festival.... Please carry the spirit of MJ with you and let's make this the best Afro-punk ever! My heart is heavy but I know MJ is in a better place! My heart goes out to the Jackson Family!

RIP Michael Jackson
We love you!
You are Afro-punk!

I am so tired of conspiracy theories.

Let the conspiracy theories begin.
1. botched plastic surgery attempt
2. they finally got the witness protection completed.
3. A hit was put on him by an Afghan Sheik once Michael converted to Islam.
