A block party in the summer consists of a few things, food, people, shade, breeze, and most importantly music. Afropunk once again gave all of those ingredients for anyone and everyone to enjoy. From the different vendors giving you a taste of what they provided to the various Djs that were the main focus of the event, you can’t help but laugh at the pure magic that the city brings when all of the planets are aliened.

Actually feeling the excitement when you hear the distant hum of James Brown through what looks like at first a cluster of figurines dancing is something most people don’t see anymore when dealing with block parties. An Afropunk, Block makes you regret putting the left over change you acquired into your saving glass jar, seeing vintage jackets, custom shirts, and discounted sunglasses the various vendors had to offer exclusively for the block party. Food and natural fruit beverages were within a few yards away from the stage, having many relax and dine upon the sidewalks and stair sets of the many brink stones that nest the block party.

Either you lived around the area or now made a new friend at the G train finding the event, the block party brought people from all over to witness a good time with people who all felt like long lost relatives. Thank you Afropunk for shattering the walls and making the people feel the music
